The OECS Data for Decision-Making Project (DDM), a 5-year project, operating out of the Office of the Director General; is an initiative led by the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) Commission. The project benefits the following OECS Member States: Saint Lucia, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Grenada and the Commonwealth of Dominica.
Funded by the World Bank Group, the DDM aims to:

  • Enhance the availability and accessibility of data to facilitate informed decision-making across the region. 
  • Improve the capacity of participating countries to produce and publicly disseminate statistical data for country and regional-level analytics.
  • Provide an immediate and effective response to an eligible emergency allowing for considerable economies of scale and facilitate positive spillovers.

Support for the Harmonised OECS LFS through the RDGC 24 June 2024, day one of a 4 day meeting of the RDGC, held in Florida witnessed the unanimous decision towards acceptance and adoption of the new core version of the LFS questionnaire for implementation, a significant milestone for Member States.

    Generation of Trade Statistics Back on Track

    Central Statistical Offices in Saint Lucia and Grenada can now resume the processing of trade statistics. This is as a result of training and capacity building of Trade and IT personnel and the resolving of critical issues in the Eurotrace system during the month of October 2024. Saint Vincent and the Grenadines is underwent this 2024 within their Central Statistical Office.  

    The objective of the 5-day in-country trainings was to train personnel involved in generating trade statistics while troubleshooting the Eurotrace system to resolve existing problems as well as to: 

    • Migrate the current access-based system to SQL server version of Eurotrace to allow for space to continue the uploading of data in the system.
    • Update the dictionaries within the Eurotrace system to reflect current data.
    • Update the Eurotrace system structure to accommodate for the new data structure of the new tariff.
    • Update the SITC and HS classifications to reflect current data. 
    • Enhance the capacity of trade statisticians to generate trade statistics from the system and manage basic software issues
