Forts and Mills Grenada: Fort Frederick

Short Overview

Fort Frederick named after the second son of King George is a bastion-type fort perched at the top of Richmond Hill at an elevation of 730’ and offers a 360-degree view of St. George’s.  The French constructed the fort with its canon facing inward rather than out to sea after they captured the British in 1779 and hence was nicknamed “Backing facing fort”
