The Old Market was once a thriving market during colonial times, especially for the trading of slaves. Major trading between Dominica and the surrounding islands occurred, from commodities to slave trading. Here, public executions were also held. 
Renovated in 1988 as a craft centre with shops to display local crafts, the Market currently contains stalls selling handcrafted jewellery, clothes, spices, etc.
