Saint Lucia Carnival is a staple event which encourages creativity in the island’s art form. Traditionally held in February the event was changed to July in the early 2000’s to allow for increased participation from visitors during the summer.  While some revellers have remained true to the traditions of carnival,  others have sought to embrace the more modern type of costumes. The event also encompasses musical renditions in calypso and other local genres of music.
