Grenada’s Annual Carnival celebration is held in the month of August which culminates on the second Monday and Tuesday with the highlight being Jouvert - revellers hitting the streets from as early as 4:00 am on Monday dabbed in old oil and wearing serpents around their necks. The event includes a number of competitions including steel bands, calypso, mas bands.   The celebration involves parading and moving through the streets in colourful consumers and masks that represents certain ideas or spiritual forces.
