Author: Racquel John

As the unemployment rate continues to increase rapidly across the Caribbean region many young persons are becoming self-employed. This movement has not only boosted the economy but has also begun to show the amount of creativity each island possesses. Who would have known that our islands possess so many artists, handbag crafters, shoe customizers or makeup gurus?

To the ear it may sound like something very ordinary, but the time, energy, materials and crafting behind each element is simply amazing. Persons starting off new businesses do not have to look far or spend any money to market their business as social media is known as the main source for advertising any goods or services.

1 Social Media Icons

Have a presence on every social network. Some of the more
popular ones would be Facebook, Instagram, Twitter,
Snapchat and Pinterest. Keep in mind that depending
on your type of business and market research you
would be able to determine which platform the
majority of your clients are present on.

2 Graphic Design Ensure that your promotional graphics, content and videos
are up to date, fresh and appealing to your customers’ eyes.
You do not have to pay much money to a graphic designer
for such. You can use simple tools such as Canva and
even YouTube to help create content.
3 Press Release Creating press releases each time your business has a
special offer, a new product launch or a charitable
endeavor is a great marketing tool. This helps in
reaching a much wider audience especially those who
may not be in tune with social media.
4 Collaborate Partnering or collaborating with another entrepreneur who has
had made their name in the industry can also serve as a
business booster and a confidence booster. The buyer traffic can
be easily and fairly shared amongst you and the other
entrepreneur.
5 Free Trial Depending on the product or service being offered, you may
want to try giving free trials. This shows customers that you
are confident in your product or services and this will most
likely influence them to want to make a purchase.

While there are many other ways any entrepreneur can mini market their business, these are just a few helpful tips which are cost free and have worked for many entrepreneurs. Do not be afraid to explore new ways to advertise your business as you have already fulfilled the hardest step which was getting it off the ground. Marketing and advertising has no limits so don’t be afraid to get as creative as you would like.
